News Update :

Top Five Free Agent Quarterbacks

Thursday 14 February 2013

Michael Vick

The signing of Michael Vick by the Eagles weakens an already weak free agent quarterback field. Vick's one-year contract, for as much as $10 million?according to some news reports, came as somewhat of a surprise to many who thought he would become a free agent.

Vick has lost some mobility after his years in the NFL, something new Eagles Coach Chip Kelly will require for his fast-paced, spread offense.

In any case, ?there aren't many top-quality free agent QBs left, especially if you believe those, including me, who claim Joe Flacco will stay in Baltimore.

Still, a solid backup is a good investment in the NFL, and you can bet there are six or seven teams scouring the free agents. Here is my list of the Top 5 available as of today.

That could change, of course, if players like Alex Smith and Matt Flynn become free agents. Both Smith and Flynn lost their starting jobs this year, but both have incentives to stay where they are (meaning: money) because each has lost quite a bit of bargaining power.
